Beginning May 1, Champaign Partners LLC will enter into a three-year LMA with DVH Management (d/b/a Pendleton Broadcasting) for WUIL (107.9 Jamz)/Champaign, Ill., giving Pendleton the right to purchase the rhythmic station at anytime for $1.5 million.
Pendleton Broadcasting CEO VP Dwayne Hubbard says, “I’m very excited to be a part of history! We are the first African American owners & operators on the FM Dial in central Illinois. Champaign-Urbana now has its own Hits & Hip Hop station and we will super serve the community and bring the area’s music entertainment scene up a notch, something our competitors have failed to do in this vibrant market."
Sunshine Broadcasting/Gainesville PD/MD of urban WTMG (Magic 101.3) & PD of gospel WTMN (Gospel 1430) Jamie "Babyface" Pendleton annexes the OM position at 107.9 Jamz. He and Hubbard previously worked together in Champaign at the now defunct WCGQ, where Pendleton was PD and Hubbard was sales manager.
“This is the most aggressive team I have ever met,” states Champaign Partners manager John Maguire. “Dwayne Hubbard has put together a plan with a star programmer that will dominate the Champaign-Urbana Radio market.”
Pendleton is most excited about the doors that will be opened for others in his new role and tells R&R, "I've got a hard working part-time staff in Gainesville, and now I'll get to give them on-air opportunities."
