R&R has learned that Entercom has ended 13 years of some flavor of rock on WMFS (93X)/Memphis, making the alternative format go kablooey at midnight local time on Wednesday night (May 20). When the debris cleared, WMFS began simulcasting sports clusterbuddy WSMB-AM (ESPN 680).
Unfortunately, with the flip, the entire airstaff is out, including MD/midday jock Syd Nabors, afternoon guy Crate and night goddess Beck Bishop. 93X was also carrying the syndicated "Rover's Morning Glory" in, well, mornings, and the show loses its Memphis home with the flip.
