Texas Triple A Update

Cumulus Media Partners KHJK/Houston has dropped the Jack format in favor of triple A calling itself "103-7 FM KHJK -- Houston's Adult Alternative." The switch happened on May 6. The station's tower is actually located between Houston and Beaumont and covers the northern and eastern portion of the Houston market. Updating our story about Cumulus KDBN/Dallas' switch a couple of weeks ago: Although the station is definitely focusing on adult listeners, OM Jeff Catlin says, "93.3 Quality Rock" is a rock station for adults and they are playing deeper cuts than other stations in the market are playing. And despite what some have implied, Catlin says it is not a triple A station. "I think the songs we play are way more familiar than what you'll hear on a triple A station." Of course, if you listen to the station, it sure sounds like a triple A! Whatev….
