Salem Communications has made an unspecified number of programming cuts at their Sacramento, Honolulu, Cleveland and Omaha stations. On air positions that have been cut will be replaced with Salem network programming.

Salem radio president Joe Davis explains, "As we continue to look at how to respond to the economic downturn, it is hard not to acknowledge the success of our own Salem Music Network and the fact that we have not used it enough in many of our own markets. It’s the same music, the same kind of personalities, the same Fish imaging, all with the same level of devotion to our trademarked slogan, 'Safe for the Whole Family'. In fact, in Nashville where this product is heard 24/7 on our Fish station there, we have been quite successful in reaching our target demo of women 25-54."

Davis goes on to say that the network programming will be utilized in select dayparts in a way that works for listeners and delivers the music and features they are accustomed to hearing. "In each station where these changes are being made, local personalities will still be heard on the air, and will do live appearances and personality-oriented events that are local community based. Advertisers and listeners alike will continue to be served with seamless Fish programming of the highest quality."
