After a long layoff, Cumulus KPLX (99.5 the Wolf)/Dallas stormed back to the top- ranked position in the market as April PPM results were released today (May 20). The Wolf improved slightly 5.5-5.6 but it was good enough to rank No. 1, topping CHR/Top 40 KHKS. The Wolf is still outcumed by KKGO in L.A., but we're guessing Wolf PD Mark Phillips and his staff will take that No. 1 6+ ranking. Citadel's crosstown KSCS was up too, moving 3.7-3.8 to rank sixth.
Speaking of cume in L.A., Mt. Wilson FM Broadcasters' KKGO (Go Country)/Los Angeles added nearly 45,000 persons in April, which no doubt helped the station improve 3.1-3.3. That ranks Go Country 11th overall, but eighth English speaking. April marks the third straight month Go Country had a 3.0 or better.
Other PPM markets getting results today included Chicago, where CBS Radio's WUSN (US99) dipped 4.0-3.8 to rank seventh. Back to the Lone Star State, Cox Radio's KKBQ/Houston inched forward 4.1-4.2 for eighth, while CBS Radio's KILT was up 2.7-3.0, for 14th. 'KBQ classic country sister KTHT was off 2.6-2.4 for 18th. Beasley's WXTU/Philadelphia was down slightly 4.0-3.9 and ranks eighth. Entercom's KBWF (95.7 the Wolf)/San Francisco posted its highest share since launching two years ago, by improving 2.6-2.9 to rank 14th. Empire's KRTY/San Jose was up 2.4-2.5 to rank 17th, CBS Radio's KFRG/Riverside was flat at 3.6 and ranks seventh overall.
