Legendary Washington D.C. disc jockey Don Dillard died at his home in Annapolis, Md., Thursday (May 28) of an apparent heart attack. Dillard was a pioneer in the market playing rock-and-roll, rockabilly and R&B records on WDON-AM in the mid-1950's.
Dillard was able to play whatever he wanted because his father, Everett, owned the station, as well as WASH-FM and 52 other stations in the region. That also explains the station's call-letters.
