Maurice Singleton, former MJI director of urban programming, has partnered with singer/producer Marc Dorsey to launch Platinum Creative Studios in Harlem. Station imaging, voicetracking, jingles and commercials for radio and television are some of the services that will be offered.
About 10 years ago, Singleton created the "Classic Soul Countdown," hosted by the now-late legendary personality Frankie Crocker.
Both Singleton and Dorsey have production experience and honed their skills in the early '90s working at Velvet Voices, the production company owned by Vaughn Harper, former "Quiet Storm" host on Inner City urban AC WBLS/New York.
"Both Marc and Maurice decided on this venture upon my request to review production work opportunities," states Harper. "When I completed the narration of 'Grand Theft Auto IV,' other new media initiatives started coming my way and I wanted someone I was confident in to evaluate the request." Harper has passed these requests along to Singleton and Dorsey, adding, "Since they left the offices of Velvet Voices they've stayed on top of their game."
