Clear Channel Radio/New York on Tuesday (May 12) opened the P.C. Richard & Son Theater, which will serve as the live-performance home for the cluster's CHR/top 40 WHTZ (Z100), classic rock WAXQ (Q104.3), AC WLTW (106.7 Lite-fm), urban WWPR (Power 105.1) and rhythmic AC WKTU. The 5,500-square-foot space, located at CC's N.Y. headquarters, will also be the East Coast home for iheartradio original productions, including the company's "stripped" and "NEW!" performances.
P.C. Richard & Son, a chain of electronics and appliances stores, acquired the naming rights to the 220-person theater under a multiyear deal announced in February. As part of the deal, the retailer will also have the opportunity to co-promote such events as Z100's Z Lounges, Power 105.1's Power Radio Live, Up Close & Personal with 106.7Lite-fm and intimate events for Q104 and WKTU.
"We've created a truly world-class studio and performance space," said Evan Harrison, executive VP of Clear Channel Radio and president of the company's digital division. "Not only will we produce intimate events for our New York listeners, but this theater will serve as a national content creation and distribution hub."
CC/N.Y. president and market manager Joe Puglise says, "Clear Channel Radio is committed to investing in the most innovative, highest-quality programming to listeners and most valuable advertising opportunities to sponsors. It's only fitting that the most incredible city for music in the country have this kind of performance space."
