There's a new voice in afternoon drive on Cumulus urban AC KVMA (Magic 102.9)/Shreveport, La., with the addition of "The Michael Baisden Show." The Citadel Media syndicated show replaces Al Cooper.
"I'm extremely excited to bring a talent of Michael Baisden's stature to Shreveport," says PD Mychal Maguire. "This show's interaction, inspiration, empowerment and accomplishments in other markets signify that it will provide Magic 102.9's audience with a listening experience that will change the way they relate to the radio."
In addition to picking up a new affiliate, Baisden has been lauded for a weekly feature that addresses domestic violence. The segment began airing in April and run will through June every Tuesday, and the on-air dialogue has increased caller traffic to the Washington, D.C.-based Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN) hotline monumentally.
"The opportunity to help victims of injustice has long been a cornerstone of our program," states Baisden. "I'm pleased to know that so many people who need the assistance of a group like RAINN are now reaching out and receiving help in their own time of crisis because our show may have helped point them in that direction. Sixty percent of rape cases go unreported each year. I'm proud to be working with RAINN to help lower that percentage."
